Ah man this bloody euro money is killing me at the moment,  purchaces from Holand and Germany is a nightmare, i am having to ask companies if they will take US Dollars instead.
Is it a good time to get rid of the GBP ?

I was looking into exchange rates, but it didn't seem worthwhile unless you're trading mass amounts. And even then, I couldn't be bothered! :)

You can't get rid of the quid!

I, personally, hate Euros and love that we don't follow the French crowd.

50p's are my favourite!  ;D

I'm not very patrotic and stuff, but the only reason I wanted to stay with the pound is because I know the value of the pound, and using another currency would confuse me. I would constantly be converting Euro back to pound, just so I have a sense of how much something costs! I'm not good with change :)

When the euro was launched on 1 January 1999, it became the new official currency of 11 Member States, replacing the old national currencies – such as the Deutschmark and the French franc – in two stages. First introduced as a virtual currency for cash-less payments and accounting purposes, while the old currencies continued to be used for cash payments and considered as 'sub-units' of the euro, it then appeared in physical form, as banknotes and coins, on 1 January 2002. On January 1, 1999, 12 European Union countries chose to form an economic and monetary union (EMU) and started using the euro. The 12 countries locked their exchange rates to the euro. On January 21, 2002, euro notes and coins became available.

The euro (sign: €; code: EUR) is the official currency of the eurozone: 17 of the 27 member states of the European Union. It is also the currency used by the Institutions of the European Union.
