Mr Sheldon

Hi,

My mum has come to live with me  and contributes to her keep. I do all the shopping such as food, toiletries etc and a sum also goes towards bills. Are there any tax implications on this? Should it be put on the tax return?

Seriously?
No......your mother would not normally be classified as a lodger.
Even if she were you need to make £4,250 in profit before you had to declare.
Even then she can provide a "gift" to you of £3,000 anyway which of course you could claim first.
(there is no written agreement between you and her - right?)

Tax liability?...seriously? No.

Unless of course you are angling for a cheeky tax break by combining rent a room relief with a larger property portfolio...? In which case I like your thinking but still ...No..

Best of luck
