As a result of the new legislation of October 2015, we installed smoke/heat and CO meters in the 2 flats we own. The smoke/heat alarms were installed by a professional electrician and are wired to the mains with a battery back up.

Are we are allowed to deduct the electricians charges from profits?

In the case of the CO meters which are battery operated - we had to buy 4 of these - are these deductible ?

When I see questions like this I can't help but wonder what other justifiable costs these people are not claiming and thereby paying my chum Mr. Osborne even more tax than they need to.  >:(
